Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program
Advocacy Volunteers Needed!!!
Tasks include:
Answering the 24-hour crisis line, legal advocacy, assisting the Program with special events, provide support and advocacy for victims, and assisting with day-to-day shelter activities.
Volunteers must commit to 20 hours of training and have a willingness to volunteer at least 10 hours per month.

9/23/06: 9:00am-3:00pm
9/30/06: 9:00am-3:00pm
10/07/06: 9:00am-3:00pm

The Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program exists to serve and advocate for women and families affected by domestic violence. The goal of the BDVP is to provide a wide array of comprehensive support services that empower individuals and enrich our community by ensuring that families are protected, valued and defended in the Bluegrass Region. Counties served by the BDVP include: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott and Woodford.
The BDVP offers the following services to both residential and non-residential victims of domestic violence: 24-hour crisis line (language interpretation and hearing impaired services availalbe), emergency shelter, individual counseling, group counseling, case management, legal advocacy, children's services, financial literacy and housing advocacy. Advocates with the BDVP are available to conduct trainings and presentations in order to raise awareness and community involvement regarding domestic violence. All services are confidential and free of charge.
BDVP's emergency shelter is located on 40 acres in Fayette County providing a beautiful space for privacy, peace and healing. This 32-bed home includes twelve bedrooms, two community living rooms, a large dining area, group rooms, children's playrooms, a library and an art room. This facility is fully secure and staffed 24 hours per day.
